I am proud to share that this summer I will be joining the ACLU of Kentucky to participate in the Southern Legal Internship Program, sponsored by the ACLU and the National Black Law Students Association! The opportunity to support the Southern Collective’s work in reforming criminal law, which disproportionately affects Black and Brown communities, is deeply personal for me and was a crucial part of my decision to become a lawyer. Through the internship, I look forward to supporting the ACLU’s work to advance criminal legal reform in the South, and deepening my understanding of litigation as a tool to protect civil rights when the political process has failed to do so.
In addition to this milestone, I am excited to be taking on several leadership roles within Vanderbilt University Law School next year. Next year, I will serve as Social Action Chair for the Black Law Students Association and Street Law Co-Director for Vanderbilt's Legal Aid Society!
Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way to make these experiences possible!
